Shamanic Counseling
as_icon_large.jpgThe journey is a type of “interactive” meditation that gives the journeyer direct and practical access to the workings of the deeper self. In traditional contexts, the shamanic journey was used as the primary vehicle for training the shamanic initiate. The particular focus of the journey was to help the initiate gather power and form relationships to power sources arising within and outside of the self.

In modern counseling contexts, assisting clients to step into their personal power in a balanced and integrated way is an essential component of emotional, mental and spiritual healing. This form of healing is especially valuable in a time where more and more individuals who are able to hold power in a balanced way are needed to help bring the social and natural environment back into balance.

In this class, you will be shown how the journey can be dedicated to resolving difficult client issues. You will learn how to use the journey to help the client move past resistance and defensiveness. You will also learn to interpret the images and teachings of journey and learn to recognize and work with references to hidden client issues. You will also be shown the key points in the counseling process where the journey can be most effectively introduced.
