Depth Hypnosis FAQs
How is Depth Hypnosis different from traditional hypnotherapy?

Depth Hypnosis emphasizes self-transformation. In practice, this means Depth Hypnosis works to resolve your issue by finding the root cause(s) and addressing it at the source. This leads to long-lasting healing. Traditional hypnotherapy, or suggestion hypnosis, attempts to trick the mind into thinking that a certain problem has disappeared; it relies on external direct suggestion to the unconscious mind, with no consideration for the underlying causes of the unwanted behavior, habit, or symptom. At best, this offers only temporary relief from symptoms, which tend to reappear over time. With Depth Hypnosis, the success rate is high and long lasting.

How is Depth Hypnosis different from traditional psychotherapy?

In talk therapy, we use our conscious and analytical mind to think and talk about our problems. This can be helpful at arriving at an understanding of our experience on a conceptual level. This is an important step toward healing. But it is possible to become stuck or held in an issue without actually changing your relationship to the problem and moving through it. Depth Hypnosis uses techniques that bypass the conscious mind and connect you with your inner wisdom and the root of the issue. Working with the root of the issue allows change to occur throughout all levels of your being - mind, body, and spirit.

What issues can be addressed with Depth Hypnosis?

Depth Hypnosis is a model for ongoing personal growth and spiritual transformation. As such, it can ameliorate many types of issues, including addiction, depression, phobia, anxiety, panic, stress, attention deficit disorders, physical ailments, and all types of compulsive or self-limiting behavior. The use of Depth Hypnosis in addressing depression, panic, addiction, and immune system diseases has produced a shift in symptoms in a majority of cases.

Do I need an undergraduate or a graduate degree to participate in these workshops?

No. Although many of our students have Masters Degrees and Ph.D.s, no degree at any level of education is a requirement for the Depth Hypnosis workshops.

I'm a licensed psychotherapist and not sure if the training will benefit me. Will it?

Many of our students are licensed psychotherapists or other types of healers who are looking for new tools to use in their practices. The Depth Hypnosis techniques that you will learn as part of these workshops do not interfere with other modalities. Instead, they inform and expand possibilities for almost any type of therapeutic paradigm. The tools you learn in this class will help you take your healing practice, whatever it may be, to a new level of integration.

I am not sure I want to practice as a hypnotherapist, but I'm intrigued by the subject matter. Would it be appropriate to take the course for my own personal growth?

Depth Hypnosis is a model of self-transfomation, and the Depth Hypnosis workshops are tailored to the needs of those who are interested in their own self transformation and facilitating the self transformation of others. Many people take this class for their own personal growth, because it provides a "quick path" to self-understanding. It also provides healing professionals with techniques they can use to facilitate change in their clients, and expand the results of their work. All healers or counselors must have an ongoing relationship with their own personal healing and growth in order to be successful with clients. Individuals who are not currently in a helping profession, but want to transition into this area through a career as a hypnotherapist or Depth Hypnosis Practitioner may take classes at the Foundation of the Sacred Stream and apply for certification through the Association of Depth Hypnosis Practitoners. Regardless, of your professional aspirations, these workshops will help you deepen your understanding of yourself and can be used to help become a better parent or to interact with people at work and in your life with more insight and compassion.

Who should take this course?

These workshops are for anyone interested in self-transformation or facilitating the self-transfomation of others. Although this class focuses on hypnotherapeutic techniques for uncovering blocks to the core self, those who work with others outside the counseling field will benefit from the vision of healing that is presented in this course. Spiritual and mental health counselors who have integrated Depth Hypnosis techniques into their practices have reported a deepening of their own experience, as well as a deepening of their clients' experiences. Additionally, teachers, social workers, midwives, doulas, nurses, attorneys, and individuals from various other fields have participated in the Depth Hypnosis training program and reported increased energy, better focus, deeper understanding, and more confidence in the therapeutic environment. Again, many take this class for self-understanding. For these students, their path often becomes clearer and better defined so they are able to make new choices for greater self-expression.
