Grief and Loss

ts_icons_large.jpgGrief  is one of the most complex emotional, spiritual and mental responses that humans experience. It generally arises from loss and is most acute around death of a loved one or even the impending death of the self. Loss of this nature can generate a sense of overwhelm which may result in any number of responses such as denial, post-traumatic stress symptoms, and diverted or undifferentiated emotional or mental states which seem unconnected to the loss such as depression, panic, or addiction.

This class offers techniques for individuals and professionals interested in learning how to work with the process of overwhelm in themselves and in others. Emphasis will be placed on learning how to emerge from overwhelm in order to participate in the teachings that loss and grief provide. Students will learn how to read the emotional responses to loss and the ways these point to deeper personal work that can then be practiced to achieve greater harmony and inner peace.
