About Depth Hypnosis

Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D., developed this highly effective therapeutic model to help people work through issues quickly and gain long-lasting results.  It is a rapid path of transformation and provides an opportunity to achieve profound and long-lasting results on a spiritual, emotional, and physical level.  By synthesizing key principles of shamanism, Buddhism, hypnotherapy, and transpersonal psychology, Depth Hypnosis brings the ancient healing wisdom of many cultures to the unique imbalances of contemporary Western society - with stunning success!

As a therapeutic model, Depth Hypnosis does not rely on a diagnosis to understand the client. Recognizing that every person is unique, Depth Hypnosis actively involves the client in the process of discovering what is needed to effect the changes they are seeking in their life. In this way, the client is directly in touch with their power and ability to heal. By following current life issues to their source (through dream recall, inner child work, and regressions), the client discovers what is needed to help them move beyond their unconscious motivations. Through this process, the client is able to step into a life-affirming relationship with themselves and the world around them.

Depth Hypnosis is unique in that it encourages radical self-responsibility and engages the client in a process of self-empowerment through self-knowledge. As the client traverses the realms of his or her own psyche through hypnosis, meditation, or the shamanic journey, the Depth Hypnosis counselor helps the client interpret sub-conscious material. By doing so, the client and practitioner are able to gain a deeper understanding of the obstacles that are creating disharmony in the client's life.

Although Depth Hypnosis draws upon hypnotherapy, it differs radically from traditional hypnotherapy, which relies heavily on Ericksonian or Suggestion Hypnosis. While Suggestion Hypnosis is often helpful, it is not necessarily long-lasting because it works only on the surface and does not address the traumatic events that lie beneath the presenting problem - habit, anxiety, depression, physical illness, etc. When the deeper issue is not addressed, the problem will likely return or another problem will emerge to take its place.

Depth Hypnosis is highly effective in dealing with addictions, eating disorders, and attention deficit disorder, among many other imbalances. Additionally, Depth Hypnosis has yielded positive results in areas where western medicine and psychology are stymied. At this time, there is no clinical cure for chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, panic disorders, and severe depression. Regardless, Depth Hypnosis practitioners report high success rates in the treatment of the symptoms of these imbalances.

Many professionals have incorporated Depth Hypnosis into their practices.  These include psychotherapists, social workers, counselors, and doctors, to name a few.  The tools offered by Depth Hypnosis are adaptable to any system and do not require new beliefs or adherence to dogma in any form.  Currently, Dr. Gucciardi teaches Depth Hypnosis through the Foundation of the Sacred Stream (in Oakland and San Francisco, CA) and All That Matters (in Wakefield, RI). She offers a course called Integrating Depth Hypnosis into a Counseling Practice at CIIS (California Institute for Integral Studies) and is a guest lecturer on the subject at the University of California at Berkeley.
