Coming to Peace is a distinctive and highly effective integrative approach to conflict resolution that equips facilitators with practical, compassionate tools for addressing the interpersonal tensions that arise within families, communities, and organizations. It is designed to honor the full spectrum of human identity, fostering equity and inclusion, making it an excellent tool for those working at the crossroads of culture, faith, and gender. Rooted in indigenous conflict resolution practices, Buddhist philosophy, and Depth Hypnosis—a contemporary therapeutic modality developed by Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D.—this method offers a grounded and transformative framework for working with conflict at both personal and collective levels.

Drawing on the principles and practices presented in Isa Gucciardi’s book, Coming to Peace: Resolving Conflict Within Ourselves and With Others, this training teaches facilitators how to establish a safe and respectful container for dialogue, support participants in maintaining constructive communication, skillfully navigate group conflict, and manage complex group dynamics. Emphasis is placed on fostering connection, building trust, and enhancing communication, transparency, and effectiveness within individuals, groups, and organizations.

The program is particularly valuable for facilitators working across cultural, religious, and gender differences, and for those supporting communities affected by historical and ongoing divisions. Participants respectfully explore the history and application of Indigenous mediation practices from Hawai‘i, Southern Africa, and the Iroquois League of North America, alongside Buddhist teachings on Fierce Compassion and Radical Self-Responsibility, and their relevance to modern conflict resolution.

In a time of increasing polarization, this training offers an effective and conscientious means of helping address the need for greater sensitivity around choice, identity, and sexuality, and the challenges facilitators face when holding space for charged and deeply personal issues. The Coming to Peace method teaches facilitators how to create and sustain a protected, respectful environment, honor time-tested wisdom with integrity, and work skillfully with their own energy to prevent overwhelm or burnout. Participants learn how to remain present, compassionate, and effective while holding the emotional and relational complexities of the group.

Postage and certificate fees are included in the course price. Postage outside the United States may incur an additional surcharge.

Praise for the book, Coming to Peace:

“Isa’s Coming to Peace is just the ticket for these challenging times! It is both easily accessible, born of deeply lived experience, and profoundly transforming, tried and tested in therapeutic practice. Coming to Peace powerfully captures the intensities normally controlled by mental addictions, like rage, obsession, and envy, and how to deploy and transform them for the good of self and others. Isa conveys the practical how-to of this process that makes it possible to bring it into your life. I heartily recommend this book.” – Robert A. F. Thurman, Ph.D., best-selling author, Buddhist scholar, co-founder of Tibet House US, and Professor Emeritus, Columbia University

“In everyday idiom and sharing transformative experiences of her clients, the author brings to life, in a powerful way, what it means to truly let go, develop genuine self-acceptance, and tap into the creative energy of suffering. What Isa teaches in her remarkable book is a journey of mindfulness and self-acceptance–in short, true self-discovery through the path of compassion. This is a genuine offering to the world and I thank my friend for her writing this important book.” – Thupten Jinpa, Ph.D., principal translator to H.H. the Dalai Lama, chair of the Mind & Life Institute, and founder of the Institute of Tibetan Classics
