Saturday, October 23, 2021
10:00 am Pacific (up to 2 hours)

Join author and preeminent Buddhist scholar, Robert Thurman, for this talk on his latest book, Wisdom is Bliss. A long time Buddhist teacher, he makes the path of understanding Buddhism accessible and fun. In his book, he addresses the ideas of Buddhist philosophy and science and explains that Buddhism is actually realism. He demonstrates the ways that Buddha was a critical thinker and educator and offers the modern seeker a new way of engaging with Buddhist thought. As with any Robert Thurman talk, anything goes, and we’ll follow his discourse to some interesting places and there will be time for Q&A with Bob at the end. Funds for this talk go to Tibet House and Computers for Kids.

Recognized worldwide as an authority on religion, spirituality, Asian history, philosophy, Tibetan Buddhism, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Robert A.F. Thurman is an eloquent advocate of the relevance of Eastern ideas to our daily lives and a leading voice for the value of reason, peace, and compassion. Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University, he was named one of TIME magazine’s 25 most influential Americans in 1997, and hailed by the New York Times as the leading American expert on Tibetan Buddhism.
