Geshe Pema Dorjee’s Humanitarian Projects
Geshe Pema Dorjee is a longtime friend and advisor to the Sacred Stream. He is an internationally recognized authority, scholar, and teacher of Tibetan Buddhism. His fluent English, keen intellect, clear and practical explanations, warm-hearted nature, and infectious sense of humor enrich his talks and discussions with meaning and inspiration. As a child he and his family escaped occupied Tibet and he went on to dedicate his life to helping others. He has advanced degrees in Buddhist Philosophy and played several important roles in helping establish and maintain the Tibetan community in exile. He served as the Principal of the Tibetan Teachers Training Center and head of the Children’s Village in Dharamsala and at the request of HH Dalai Lama, he now runs a monastery in India.
In addition, Geshe Pema Dorjee continues his tireless work of humanitarian projects in Nepal and India that include establishing schools, arranging medical care for the sick and injured, providing care for the elderly, creating orphanages, supporting a drug rehabilitation center, educating villagers to protect them from human trafficking, creating a safe house for street girls, helping young people in Tibetan refugee camps, introducing new agricultural techniques, and providing safe water, toilets, and smokeless cook-stoves. His regularly teaches in the US and Europe to raise funds for these important grassroots projects that do so much for so many people. And we are honored to support his work.
